When is the Pekmarkt?
Every Wednesday – Friday – Saturday
Where is the Pekmarkt?
Van der Pekstraat in Amsterdam-Noord.
From Central Station: 4 minutes with the ferry (Buiksloterveer), 1000 steps, 3 minutes bike ride or 1 stop with the bus.
The Farmers & Mixed market on Friday and Saturday are organized by Sien (known from the NeighbourFood Market) and the foundation Mama Louise.
Sien creates and develops concepts for brands, media and venues. The theme in all the Sien initiatives is the love for good food and ‘gezelligheid’. Food brings people together. This thought is the basis for the NeighbourFood Market, a monthly pop up food court organized at the Westergasfabriek. Young entrepreneurs and established chefs come here to present their cooking talents. Everybody is welcome to taste and learn that eating is more than just consuming. Sien creates with the NeighbourFood Market a platform for starting entrepreneurs and is a nice hang out for all foodies: neighbours, families, friends, tourists and expats.
Mama Louise originated in the foundation Broedstraten in Amsterdam-Noord. Three social connectors discovered lots of local economic potential between the residents in Noord; potential to mobilize, expand and to become financially independent. Mama Louise developed the Broedstratenproject. Out of this project it became clear that there was a lot of ambition and craftsmanship among the residents. This was the starting point for Mama Louise. By making this potential visible to and connect with new networks and to add creative value, Mama Louise wants to help residents grow along with developing Amsterdam-Noord.
Sien and Mama Louise joined forces and put everything in order to develop the Pekmarkt. Together they provide a varied selection, where quality and originality are key.
